Welcome
Welcome to our lovely church, located in the historic district of downtown Wilmington. Our church was first established in Wilmington in 1907, and the congregation laid the cornerstone of our current building in 1928.
For more than a century, our members and visitors have met for services in our beautiful facilities to worship, pray, share our love for God, the Scriptures, our community, and each other.
Wilmington has a thriving tourist industry being located between area beaches and the Cape Fear River, so we are pleased with the number of visitors, and newcomers we have joining us at our Sunday morning services and Wednesday evening testimony meetings.
Our church is a branch of The First Church of Christ, Scientist in Boston, Massachusetts, which is the headquarters for the global activities of the Christian Science Church.
Sunday Services
The same weekly Bible Lesson sermon, focusing on a unique topic, is delivered in every Christian Science church globally.
This sermon consists of readings from the Bible and correlative citations from our denominational textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, written by the founder of our church, Mary Baker Eddy.
Our Sunday morning services include our sermon, prayer, the singing of hymns, and a solo from the church soloist.
Our textbook and the Bible serve as our pastor, so our weekly sermon is read by two church members. We provide Sunday School lessons for young people up to the age of twenty.
Each weekly Bible Lesson sermon is published in advance to allow for the advance study of the lesson, which is designed to address personal, global, social and political issues.
Most importantly, it is to help Bible Lesson readers to discover the blessings of Christian living and aid in healing.
This also allows for worldwide unity in prayer on the same subject matter for the week, enriching lives and providing fellowship.
Wednesday Evening Meetings
Every Wednesday night, we host a Testimony Meeting. The first half of the meeting includes prayer, hymns, and readings from the Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures.
The second half of the meeting invites participants to share remarks, spiritual insights, and healing they have had from the study of Christian Science.
Sunday School
Christian Science Sunday School is for students between the ages of 4 and 20 and meets at the same time as our Church Service. Age-appropriate classes of children and teens learn a curriculum based on the Bible (both the Old and New Testament) and the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy.
This instruction gives students foundational tools for how to apply prayer in their daily lives. Teachers share lessons on the Ten Commandments, the Beatitudes, the life and ministry of Christ Jesus, the prophets, the disciples, and the apostles.
Children’s Room
We provide an interactive and comfortable space for babies and toddlers up to four years old during Sunday and Wednesday services.
Reading Room
Our Christian Science Reading Room is like a library or bookstore where you can pray and study. It is a place that nurtures your spiritual growth.

There are always friendly and helpful attendants to talk with or to show you resources that you may find interesting and helpful.
There are more than 2,000 cities and towns worldwide with a Christian Science Reading Room.
They offer for sale Bibles, Bible Commentaries, Bible Dictionaries, the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health, with key to the Scriptures, as well as a monthly, and a weekly inspirational magazine, and much more.
Deep and life-changing inspiration has been experienced by many people, while visiting one of the many Christian Science Reading Rooms around the world.
